Terms of Service

These terms cover your use of RemoteMyShack: the website and service at remotemyshack.com, your station's console at yourcall.remotemyshack.com, and the RemoteMyShack agent you run on a computer in your shack. By creating an account or using the agent, you agree to them. If you don't agree, don't use RemoteMyShack.

1. What RemoteMyShack does

RemoteMyShack lets you operate your own amateur radio station from a web browser. The agent on your shack computer talks to your radio; our service signs you in, connects your browser to your agent, and relays the connection when a direct one isn't possible. We don't own, operate or control your station.

2. You are the control operator

You must hold an amateur radio licence that lets you operate the station you connect, and you remain its control operator whenever it is operated through RemoteMyShack. You are responsible for every transmission, including:

• following the rules of your licence and of the country where the station is, including any rules on remote control (in the United States, FCC Part 97);
• identifying your station as the rules require;
• not letting anyone operate the station who isn't allowed to;
• being able to stop transmissions promptly, including when the connection to RemoteMyShack fails.

The account's callsign must be yours, or a club or station callsign you are entitled to use. We don't verify callsigns when you sign up. If someone else shows they hold a callsign, we may move your account to another address or close it.

3. Your station and its safety

You are responsible for your equipment and for operating it safely: antennas, amplifiers, rotators, power, RF exposure, and anything else connected to it. The agent unkeys the transmitter when the console stops responding and limits how long one transmission can last, but these features can fail, and you should have other protections in place. Don't rely on RemoteMyShack for emergency or safety-of-life communications.

4. Your account

You sign in with passkeys. Keep your devices secure and your email address current, because we send sign-in links to it if you lose your passkeys. You are responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us at support@remotemyshack.com straight away if you think someone else has accessed it.

5. Beta

RemoteMyShack is new and under active development. While we call a feature or the service “beta”, it may change, break or be withdrawn, and it is provided free for testing. We'll tell beta testers before the beta ends and paid plans apply to them.

6. Trials, plans and billing

• New accounts get a free trial of 14 days without a card. When it ends, you need a paid plan to keep operating; you can still sign in.
• Paid plans are billed in advance, monthly or yearly, through our payment processor, Stripe. They renew automatically until you cancel.
• You can change or cancel your plan at any time from your account. Cancelling stops the next renewal; your plan keeps working until the end of the period you've paid for.
• Payments aren't refundable, except where the law requires it or we decide otherwise.
• We may change prices. A new price applies from your next renewal after we've told you about it, and you can cancel before then.
• Prices don't include taxes unless shown otherwise.

7. Referrals

You can share your referral link from your account. These rules apply to it:

• Someone who signs up with your link, or names your callsign when they sign up, gets a free trial of 30 days instead of 14.
• When an account you referred first pays for a plan, you get one free month: a credit of one month of your plan's monthly price, taken off your next invoices, if you're subscribed; or 30 more days of your free trial if you aren't. Each referred account earns this once, and you can earn at most 12 free months in any 12 months.
• Credits aren't cash: they can't be paid out, transferred or exchanged, and any you haven't used end when your account closes.
• Referrals are for other hams. You can't refer yourself, a second account of your own or an account someone made at your request, and we only count a referral made when the account signs up.
• If a referral breaks these rules, or a reward was given by mistake, we may take the reward back; for deliberate abuse, we may also suspend the accounts involved.
• We may change or end the referral program at any time. Rewards you've already earned stay yours.

8. Acceptable use

Don't use RemoteMyShack to break the law or your licence, to interfere with other services or stations, to attack or overload our systems or anyone else's, to probe our service for weaknesses without our permission, or to resell access to the service. Don't use our relay for anything other than your own station's connection.

9. Suspending or closing accounts

You can stop using RemoteMyShack at any time, and ask us to delete your account. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, is used to harm others, or doesn't pay. Where we reasonably can, we'll tell you first and give you a chance to put things right.

10. The agent

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive licence to install and run the agent on computers you control, for use with RemoteMyShack. The agent may update itself.

11. Changes to the service and these terms

We'll keep improving RemoteMyShack, which means features will change. We may update these terms; if a change matters, we'll tell you by email or in your account before it takes effect. If you keep using RemoteMyShack after that, the new terms apply.

12. No warranty

RemoteMyShack is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we make no warranties, express or implied, including that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for a particular purpose. Radio links, internet connections and computers fail, and remote operation adds ways for things to go wrong.

13. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, or for lost profits, data or equipment damage, arising from your use of RemoteMyShack, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and US $50. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.
