Signal path

Once a radio has an amplifier, a tuner or an antenna switch, RemoteMyShack draws its signal path: the radio, each piece of gear in order, and the antenna at the end. It's on the agent's setup page under each radio, and in that radio's console as the Signal path panel.

What it shows

  • The radio, with its frequency and mode.
  • Each amplifier and tuner, with its state: Operate, Standby (the amplifier passes the radio through), Bypass (the tuner passes straight through), Transmitting, Tuning or Fault.
  • Each antenna switch, with the connectors the signal goes in and out on: the radio's port and the antenna it's on (for example Port 1 in and Ant 3 out). On a switch used as a radio selector it's the radio's output and the port it's on (Output 1 in, Port A out).
  • The antenna: the name of the antenna in use, with its description. On a radio selector it's what the port goes to. It's highlighted when that isn't port A, for example the Dummy load.

While the radio transmits, the wires turn red. If an antenna switch has the radio on no port or no antenna, the drawing stops there with a dashed line, and the switch says Not on a port or No antenna. Gear that isn't responding has a dashed red outline.

On a wide screen the path runs across. Where there isn't room, it runs top to bottom.

Setting the order

RemoteMyShack works the order out from your setup: the radio's amplifiers first, then its tuners, then the antenna switches it's on. It goes by the radio each amplifier and tuner is set to, and the port or output the radio has on each switch. At a station with one radio, gear that isn't set to a radio is on the path too.

If your station is wired differently, for example with the antenna switch picking the radio before the amplifier, choose Signal path under the radio on the setup page:

  • ↑ and ↓ move a piece of gear along the path, and ✕ takes it off.
  • Add gear… puts another amplifier, tuner or switch on the path.
  • Save keeps the order. Use the usual order goes back to the one RemoteMyShack works out.

You can also set it from your account page at remotemyshack.com.

The path is a picture of your station. It doesn't change how anything is switched.
